Wakatipu SAR QUESTIONNAIRE
All the members should receive an email from Robert Taylor by now with an attached questionnaire that we’d like as many of you as possible to complete, so we know what inspires you to maintain your association with SAR, what courses and roles you’ve undertaken, and what future aspirations you as individuals might have – so that we can tailor the programme to suit, and develop some succession planning and training also so our organization continues to grow, remain viable and ever ready to respond when called upon. Please complete the questionnaire as soon as possible and e-mail it back to Ed Halson to edhalson@xtra.co.nz

Mini SAREX POSTPONED!!!
Due to a forecast weather bomb bringing some atrocious weather to our area over the coming weekend – we’ve decided to postpone the SAREX (originally planned for Sat 16th May)Although we are sometimes expected to work in adverse conditions, personnel safety is a paramount decision made in all cases, and the forecast weather and the scenario in mind would possibly jeopardize members safety – hence the call to postpone. We hope to reschedule it asap within coming weeks, and will advise a date as soon as it is set.
LANDSAR Field Member Competencies SURVEY
Hello Everyone,
In order to help us with the development of Field Team Member competencies, we are asking LandSAR NZ members to assist with an initial step by completing the following survey.
As this is a position that is at the heart of SAR in New Zealand we feel that everyone in the SAR community has something to contribute to this process.
Please take the time to help us with this initial step to develop relevant and effective Field Team Member Competencies.
The link is to the Team Member survey closing 19th April 1130 pm.

SAR meeting with HAYDN SMITH in Alex 8th March
Haydn Smith – CEO of NZLSAR - has been meeting with members all around NZ to find out from the coalface what members want and to inform members of where he sees the organization heading over the next five years or so – as a precursor to the preparation of a strategic plan.
He wants to meet as many members of NZLSAR as possible. On Sunday March 8th, he will be visiting this area, and will be giving a presentation that lasts for approx 1 hour, and seeking feedback/input. All members of Wakatipu SAR are invited to attend. At this stage the meeting is scheduled for 1400hrs – at the Alexandra Police Station (although this might change due to numbers). If you are interested in attending – please advise robert@wakatipusar.co.nz as soon as possible (say before the end of this week) so we can give an indication of likely numbers from here. Then, if there is a change of venue – we will make sure you are informed.
